Can the crowd get in contact with God?

The mount Meron Tragedy and the importance of silence during the communication with God

The Jews are a great creative, charismatic, and very intelligent people. They are characterised by the feeling of not being easily satisfied and this could be an explanation for a mere 72-year-old state to have achieved so many accomplishments.

They are so clever people that they even managed to cut God down to their size.

In Torah as a matter of fact, Moses appears as the master of the game and with his leading skills he managed to calm God down when he had been angry with the people of Israel because they had been worshiping the idol of the golden calf. Moses came down from mount Sinai and smashed the golden calf idol saving his people from God’s rage. That was a great accomplishment.

A few days ago at Mount Meron 45 orthodox Israelis met their death during the Lag B’ Omer events. It could have happened to the orthodox Greeks too during similar events. Apart from our differences we Greeks and Jews have a lot in common.
What is still beyond my grasp though in the Jewish religion and in the Christian religion as well, is the procedure of common praying within a crowd of believers who are trying to do the same.

I have never been able to understand how a so internal and lonely procedure such as the effort to contact God is done in groups as if it were a Nikos Vertis, Glykeria or Paola’s concert! Jews do it and so do Christians. They pray all together. The Jews in Synagogues and the Christians in churches.
How can it be possible to pray with another 3000 blokes? This is not praying it is gossiping and it is only reasonable for God to get angry with such stuff. Let alone the fact that most of the Jews and Christians are not praying but they are begging. They are begging for money, happiness, children, a good life companion.

It is only reasonable for God who has chosen to live in solitude for all these centuries, to get pissed off when he sees a crowd expressing its faith. Memories of Jews waiting for Moses to come down of Mount Sinai and as they did not believe that he was going to come back, they made a golden calf and worshiped it, come to his mind.
Communicating with God, that is your inner self, demands peace, silence, tranquillity. And that is why the best hours to get in contact with God are between 3-5am.

During that time of night there not many cars, no gardeners with their stupid tools nor delivery motorbike exhaust pipes. In case your spouse is snoring you can always kill him and go on praying.
Individual praying is something God appreciates as he realises the honest effort of man to get in contact with him. Communication with God demands the absolute peace and quiet. It is not a Verτis concert nor an election gathering organised by Netanyahu or Mitsotakis.
Choose the hard but the only lonely way of communicating with God. During the pandemic period it is surely the safest method.
